Do you know that there are 2 "Karimum" Islands in Indonesia?
One is Great Karimum island - with Pongka and Pelawan beach used to be full of bustling scuba diving activity but now it's so deserted and isolated, and the other island is the Karimumjawa Island which is developed as Marine Park.
Despite so, all of us are glad to visit the Great Karimum island regardless of what state it has became.
Hopefully one day it will be very populated again.... Island hopping around Indonesia waters...
However, there is still some charm to this island.
The bay is fouled by a shallow mud bank.
The dredging activity, reddish brown sand sedimentation had caused the 2 most popular beaches in Indonesia to be deserted - Pongka and Pelawan beach of Great Karimum Island.
And Indonesia Tourism used to actively promote these 2 beaches for mass tourism purposes.
