This easily accessible shore dive on Bali's north coast is a one-of-a-kind "muck diving" wonderland.
At first glance this site looks like a barren wasteland of black sand, but don't let first impressions deceive you! This easily accessible shore dive on Bali's north coast is a one-of-a-kind "muck diving" wonderland. Simply walk straight out from shore and descend into the calm water beside a natural stream flowing out of the rice paddy fields. Once submerged, keep your eyes peeled for all sorts of macro treasures nestled among the sea grass starting at a mere three metres. With an eagle-eyed guide on hand, finding the treasures is easier. Moving slowly is key, as many of the critters - like mimic octopus, Ambon scorpionfish, coconut octopus, ghost pipefish, cryptic lionfish - are masters of disguise. The shallow depth where most life is found (10m or less) means a two-hour dive isn't out of the question.
(Ok enough with the stories, I'm itchin' for a dive)
