The pass diving in French Polynesia is larger than life.
The pass diving in French Polynesia is larger than life. Pacific grey reef sharks mill about in huge schools, the water is crystal-clear, and the currents provide a thrill ride better than anything Disney ever imagined. About the only even remotely unpleasant part of the experience is getting spit out at the end into a lagoon filled with rough, dirty water. The one exception is Tumakohua Pass on Soth Fakarava, where the currently gently slows as the pass widens, beautiful stands of coral appear, a resident Napoleon wrasse comes up to say hello, and you surface just in time to see a tiny bar on stilts where you can climb out, dump your gear, and have a beer. It all makes you think, How much do I really need that job, car, and house back home?
(Ok enough with the stories, I'm itchin' for a dive)
