Diving opportunities in Cocoa Thila, Maldives are available.
By David Espinosa (Adapted from "passport to diving the world")
One of the best house reef in the world.
Yeah it's unfair that one of the priciest resorts in the world gets as its house reef one of the best dive sites; but a few metres from Cocoa Island's swank villas lies the teardrop-shaped Cocoa, Thila, a 100m-long bommie covered in soft corals. The thila's top is at 15m, and with a ripping current the blue water entry needs to be timed perfectly to catch the leading edge. Thankfully, you can duck into caverns and cuts that pock the northern rim and sit back as schools of snapper, jacks, and trevally feed in the current, while gangs of black tip sharks and majestic eagle rays fly by. Best of all: After each exhilirating dive I can retreat to my Cocoa Island villa knowing that even if life's not fair, at least I'm living (and diving) in style.
(Ok enough with the stories, I'm itchin' for a dive)
