Chelidonura nudibranchs congregate in large numbers at this dive spot.
Originally built as a shelter for local fishing boats, the harbour was eventually discarded due to bad design. Now, other than the occassional visits from the coast guard, the harbour is practically deserted. The shallow sandy bottom makes it a perfect training ground for certifying new divers who just want to get wet. But it holds a treasure even greater for critter hunters. Chelidonura nudibranchs congregate in large numbers and, once out of the harbour, the visibility and coral growth improve: Soft corals and halimeda sea grass cover several large rocks. It was on one of these large rocks that movie actress Jacklyn Wu Qian Lian found a pair of Coleman pygmy seahorses (Hippocampus colemani), the first known sighting of these rare and beautiful critters in Taiwan.
(Ok enough with the stories, I'm itchin' for a dive)
