A muck site that keeps getting better.
Translated in English, the original muck site in Anilao means "rubbish". I'd dived this site as a kid, though of course I did'nt realise the hidden wealth beneath me. Basura is a sand "reef" that has been silted over by, well, muck! I saw my first flamboyant cuttlefish, harlequin shrimp, mimic octopus, and xenon crabs here, just to name a few. The site is so productive that around forty percent of the pictures in my book Anilao were shot as Basura. Expect to see frogfish, Coleman shrimp, sea moths, wonderpus, bigfin reef squid, juvenile brown bamboo sharks, and Spanish dancers by the bushels. It's the original muck site, true, but arguably the best and still getting better.
(Ok enough with the stories, I'm itchin' for a dive)
