Bird Island is an amazing site ranging from a shallow sandy area with coral bommies to sheer drop-offs that angle back into the reef.
Smack in the middle of the Sulu Sea, Bird Island is an amazing site ranging from a shallow sandy area with coral bommies to sheer drop-offs that angle back into the reef. The sandy patch is jam-packed with colourful reef fish, turtles, white tip reef sharks, and rays. On a good day I've seen zebra sharks, eagle rays, and sharks feeding. Down on the drop-off grey reef and hammerhead sharks roam, while schooling barracudas, trevally, and giant marble rays look busy. If you drift with the current, it takes you to the cornoer where giant trevally and great barracuda whiz by just inches from you. If I could dive on site every day for the rest of my life, it would be Bird Island.
(Ok enough with the stories, I'm itchin' for a dive)
