One of the most exciting reefs in all of Papua New Guinea.
You don't want to know the literal definition of Crack-a-Fat, or Lama Shoals as it's more commonly known. Suffice to say this is one of the most exciting reefs in all of Papua New Guinea. Lama Shoal's is not a deep reef - only 20m to the top - but it takes some good diving skills to enjoy all it offers. With a swift current (and "current is life," says Captain Alan Raabe), the schools of barracuda and jacks get the heart pumping and the adrenalin flowing. Don't become too mesmerised by the fish. If you're not watching your buoyancy and drop too close to the reef, the corallamorphs can sting through just about any tropical wetsuit and leave you with itchy bumps for months. It's all part of the excitement of Lama Shoals
(Ok enough with the stories, I'm itchin' for a dive)
