Kangaroo Island offers some incredible diving around the myriad bays and reefs.
Kangaroo Island offers some incredible diving around the myriad bays and reefs that line the sheltered northern shore. The kelp that thrives there provides sanctuary for one of the most sought after fish: the leafy sea dragon. Dive in the right spot with an experienced guide and you're almost guaranteed to encounter one, but don't expect to be the first one to spot it - their incredible camouflage allows these fish to blend perfectly into the green, flowing backdrop of kelp. The weedy sea dragon, a close relative, can also be found as well as a bounty of temperate water species like blue grouper and midwives. Seal colonies like those found at Pissy Boy Bay can also be visited and, with some patience, a magical encounter can be had with the juveniles as they come to investigate the intruder snorkelling into their nursery.
(Ok enough with the stories, I'm itchin' for a dive)
