Cold water diving at its best.
A small, rugged bird sanctuary near Kruzof Island has one of the most amazing concentrations of invertebrates I've seen anywhere. Pink gersemia soft corals, tunicates, nudibranchs, and branching hydroids blanket sheer walls sculpted from receding glaciers. Surge and currents can be a challenge underwater, but you'll soon forget the difficulty of the dive as you watch thousands of puffins nest in the cliffs that ring the island. In the distance Mount Edgecombe, an active volcano, looms over Kruzof. This is cold water diving at its best with frequent sightings of wolf eels, giant pacific octopus, and in the summer numerous humpback whales bubble-net feeding in nearby waters.
(Ok enough with the stories, I'm itchin' for a dive)
