Diving opportunities in Guadalupe Island, Mexico are available.
By Matthew Oldfield (Adapted from "passport to diving the world")
Divers often visit this place to see Great whites.
Despite its stark scenery, very few people visit Guadalupe for the terrestrial attractions. They want sharks, big sharks! Guadalupe has become known as one of the best places in the world to get up close and personal with big great whites and, in the high season, encounters are guaranteed. Baited fish and chum are used to bring the sharks in close to the boats and cages, from which divers get an incredible opportunity to see the sharks at point-blank range. What makes Guadalupe Island so fabulous is its water: 30m visibility is the norm, making this location superb for photographers. And if you get the opportunity, take a dive in a "cinema cage" - sitting in a cage with two sides missing surrounded by huge great whites is an unforgettable experience.
(Ok enough with the stories, I'm itchin' for a dive)
