Diving opportunities in Elphinstone Reef, Egypt are available.
By Darryl Leniuk (Adapted from "passport to diving the world")
An open-ocean reef which plummets to 300m on all sides.
The current rips along this open-ocean reef, which plummets to 300m on all sides, bringing in pelagics like sharks, tuna and barracuda and supporting a vibrant reef of hard and soft corals and giant gorgonian fans. Schools of bright orange anthias rise above the reef in Technicolor clouds. Diver-sized Napoleon wrasse follow you along the reef and stick their faces in your camera port, while interlopers like mantas and hammerheads are often seen patrolling the blue.
(Ok enough with the stories, I'm itchin' for a dive)
